Own a pony days at The Scottish Equestrian Centre

"Own a pony" days for children are run at Bowhouse throughout the school holidays. The days run from 10am until 2.30pm, and give the children experience of “owning” and being responsible for a pony. The children learn how to tack their pony up and how to groom it properly, they go on a short hack, and the day culminates with a riding lesson in the arena.

Pony Camps

Pony camps are run from Tuesdays through to Fridays, from 10am until 3.00pm, and like the "own a pony" days, they give first hand and in depth experience of all aspects of stable management and horse care, as well as offering riding every day in a safe and friendly atmosphere. During the course of the week, there are games and other activities, (dependant on the weather), and a grand finale "competition" on the Friday afternoon, with rosettes for everyone, and prizes for the best groomed pony, top stable management student, and the rider showing the most potential.

Children must be at least 7years old to attend Pony Camp or go on an Own a Pony Day. They are required to bring their own packed lunch and waterproof clothing. Wellies are advisable, but all riding boots and riding hats are provided.
