The Scottish Equestrian Centre - History of Bowhouse

The transformation at Bowhouse, from working dairy farm to The Scottish Equestrian Centre, has been relatively swift.

Phase 1 was the conversion of the existing fields into paddocks, all with there own water supply, and proper post and rail fencing, protected by an offset mains electric tripwire.

Phase 2 was the conversion of the calf shed block in the farm steading into ten purpose built boxes.

Phase 3 was the conversion of the old dairy office block into a social area, with comfy chairs, tea & coffee, toilet etc.

Phase 4 was the clearing of the outdoor yards and the setting up of the parking areas, for cars, lorries and trailers.

Phase 5 was the conversion of the main cow shed into a reasonably sized indoor arena (32 by 22 meters).

Phase 6 was the conversion of the old milking parlour and bull/calving pen areas into a further fourteen livery boxes.

Phase 7 was the building of more roadways for hacking, through the adjacent 140 acres of woodland. This phase is ongoing.

Phase 8 was the building of 6 more stable boxes in the old hay/straw shed adjoining the western edge of the indoor arena

Phase 9 was the building of a new outdoor arena (60 by 40 meters) with an adjacent large covered shelter and good access.

Phase 10 was the setting up of an isolation box, with it's own paddock, both sitting completely separate from the main steading block.

Phase 11 was the setting up of the horse treatment area in the old dairy block on the north side of the steading.

Phase 12 will be the building of a new stable block with 15 boxes in the corner field on the western edge of the steading
